During the month of October, thousands of Tennessee 4-H'ers
conducted service learning projects to celebrate the 4-H Centennial
and National 4-H Week. 4-H groups from 11 counties reported
more than 79 projects through this web site. In all,
9,881 4-H'ers and 1,085 adults dedicated 5,040
hours to helping 79,768 people. Congratulations to everyone
who celebrated 4-H through service!
All counties whose entries totaled at least 100 service hours
were entered in the Centennial Service Celebration contest sponsored
by 4-H Seeds of Service. Nine counties (Blount, Dickson, Dyer,
Giles, Jefferson, Lincoln, Putnam, Sevier and Sumner) reported
at least 100 service hours during the month of October. Honorable
Mention goes to Hardeman County (53 hours) and Sullivan County
(46 hours).
Entries were judged based on number of projects, number of
people involved, number of beneficiaries, number of hours
and reflection activities. The top three counties will receive
a service celebration for 4-H'ers to both celebrate and reflect
on their service projects. 4-H S.O.S. is pleased to announce
