National 4-H Week Promotion
"Centennial Service Celebration"

During the month of October, thousands of Tennessee 4-H'ers conducted service learning projects to celebrate the 4-H Centennial and National 4-H Week. 4-H groups from 11 counties reported more than 79 projects through this web site. In all, 9,881 4-H'ers and 1,085 adults dedicated 5,040 hours to helping 79,768 people. Congratulations to everyone who celebrated 4-H through service!

All counties whose entries totaled at least 100 service hours were entered in the Centennial Service Celebration contest sponsored by 4-H Seeds of Service. Nine counties (Blount, Dickson, Dyer, Giles, Jefferson, Lincoln, Putnam, Sevier and Sumner) reported at least 100 service hours during the month of October. Honorable Mention goes to Hardeman County (53 hours) and Sullivan County (46 hours).

Entries were judged based on number of projects, number of people involved, number of beneficiaries, number of hours and reflection activities. The top three counties will receive a service celebration for 4-H'ers to both celebrate and reflect on their service projects. 4-H S.O.S. is pleased to announce the following counties were selected as the winners:

1st place ($1000 service celebration) - Sevier County
2nd place ($750 service celebration) - Dyer County
3rd place ($500 service celebration) - Blount County

4-H S.O.S. would also like to recognize individual clubs/groups dedicating at least 100 hours to service in October. Each member of the following groups will receive a 4-H Garfield ink pen:
* Blount County - Homespun Kids
* Dickson County - 4-H Honor Club
* Dyer County - 4-H Honor Club, food-nutrition judging team and poultry judging team
* Giles County - 4-H Honor Club and All Stars
