At the 2002 Academic Conference, the meat science project group volunteered at the East Tennessee Community Design Center. The 4-H'ers assisted with landscaping and laying a brick sidewalk. In addition to learning about the agency, the volunteers also learned how to pull weeds, rake, and lay bricks "in the weave basket way." One 4-H'er commented, "It felt good to help an [organization] that helps others."
