2002 Academic Conference delegates in the clothing, health, and dairy
foods projects volunteered with Goodwill Industries, which is an organization
that provides employment training for people with disabilities. This
training is funded through the chain of Goodwill stores. The 4-H'ers
sorted clothes and put them on hangers, boxed envelopes for the military,
and helped with other tasks. One 4-H'er reported learning "not
to feel sorry for people but to help them. . . . This might lead to
more volunteer work in my community, being more considerate, and having
a good time, too."
