NICHOLS JOINS SOUTHERN REGION LEADER FORUM PLANNING COMMITTEE

The state 4-H office is pleased to announce that Becky Nichols, Bedford County volunteer leader, has been appointed to the Southern Region 4-H Leader Forum planning committee. As Tennessee's representative, Becky will serve a four-year term, covering the 2004-2007 Southern Region Leader Forums. She will have a very large task in front of her, as Tennessee will be in charge of coordinating the workshops for the 2005 forum and coordinating the entire 2006 forum as the host state. Congratulations to Becky on her selection to this committee!

TENNESSEE DELEGATION TO NATIONAL 4-H CONGRESS

Tennessee will be represented by 40 young people from across the state at the National 4-H Congress, November 28-December 2, in Atlanta, Georgia. The 2003 delegation is anxiously awaiting the "Congress experience." They will participate in a program that includes a visit to Olympic Park, the Coca-Cola Museum and Underground Atlanta. Delegates will see the Carter Center and the Martin Luther King Center, attend a cultural event and tour other sites of interest. They will complete a service project benefitting the Atlanta community and be honored by past Tennessee Congress delegates with a luncheon at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

Tennessee’s delegates to National 4-H Congress were selected as senior level II project winners during the 81st annual Tennessee 4-H Roundup this summer at The University of Tennessee, Martin. You can see the Tennessee delegation and read a brief bio of their project accomplishments at www.utextension.utk.edu/4H/natcong/.
