4-H PROJECT ACTIVITY SHEET TEMPLATE
As you know, the 4-H program is undergoing some change. Since
we are not able to print the project literature as we have in the
past, we are working with agents and specialists to develop Web-based
activity sheets. Several agents and volunteers have already taken
the initiative to create activity sheets, and many other agents
and specialists are in the process of doing so. The state 4-H staff
is working very closely with agents and specialists so that the
sheets contain accurate information and also reflect the positive
youth development model that is the basis for our statewide program.
Lori Jean Mantooth, Extension Assistant and Wanda Russell, Publications
Editor, are editing the sheets.
Our goal is to have at least one beginning, intermediate and advanced
level activity sheet for each project. Supplemental sheets will
enhance the activity sheets by providing project information with
a narrower focus. For example, the leadership project will have
a supplemental sheet on parliamentary procedure.
Several people have inquired about the process for developing
these sheets. Visit www.utextension.utk.edu/4h/projects/template.htm for complete details and templates to download in both Microsoft
Publisher and PDF.
Following is a step-by-step look at the process:
1. Developers will utilize the template
(www.utextension.utk.edu/4h/projects/temp/template.pdf)
to create a 2-3
page, age-appropriate activity sheet.
* Those wishing to begin the formatting process in Microsoft Publisher may
use
the Publisher files.
* Others should view the PDF version for more information
on the process and
required components, which include a life
skill focus, project goals and
activities, project information,
hands-on activities, career exploration,
vocabulary exercises,
service project ideas, other project opportunities, and
additional
resources. The activity sheet components should be typed
and sent to the state 4-H office to be designed
in conjunction with Marketing and Communications Services.
2. Developers will submit the activity sheet to Alice Ann
Moore in the state 4-H
office.
3. As with all Extension publications, the activity sheet
will go through a review
process with the subject matter
specialists, Marketing and Communications
Services, and the
state 4-H staff.
4. The sheet will be assigned a “W” number (for
Web-based publications) and be
posted on the 4-H Web site. |
Please contact the state 4-H office if you need additional information.

YOUTH INVOLVEMENT IN THE 2004 ELECTION
Freedom’s Answer is a nationwide initiative that seeks to
increase voter participation by utilizing youth to obtain at least
10 pledges from adults who promise to vote in the election. The
youth do not encourage voting for a particular party or candidate.
They only encourage adults to vote. In making these pledges the
students also secure voting registration forms and absentee ballots
if necessary. This fulfills the 4th Promise of America’s
Promise, marketable skills, by showing youth the impact they can
have when they choose to engage the community. For more information,
go to www.youthevote.net.
