JUNIOR MARKET GOAT FIELD DAY
Junior Market Goat Field Day was held on Saturday May 6, 2006, at the Ag Center in Shelbyville. Over 60 4-H members, parents and leaders from ten counties attended this year’s field day. The highlight of this year’s activity was a judging contest. There were four divisions in the contest with the high individual of the three youth divisions getting to pick a goat for a project animal as their prize. These animals were donated by former Bedford County Extension Leader David Gordon. Attendees were given the new showmanship guidelines for showing market goats as well as fitting guidelines. Several agents and leaders shared information on selection, fitting and other guidelines with the program participants. Participants also dined on delicious goat barbecue for lunch.
