APPLICATION AVAILABLE FOR YOUTH GARDEN GRANTS

The National Gardening Association and Home Depot have announced the 24th annual Youth Garden Grant Program. Over the last twenty-four years, NGA's Youth Garden Grants program has helped more than 1.3 million youngsters reap rewards and vital life lessons from working in gardens and habitats. Schools, youth groups, community centers, camps, clubs, treatment facilities, and intergenerational groups throughout the United States are eligible to apply.

Applicants must plan to garden in 2007 with at least fifteen children between the ages of three and 18 years. Previous Youth Garden Grant winners who wish to reapply must wait one year and have significantly expanded their garden programs.

Applicants should demonstrate a child-centered plan that emphasizes children/youth learning and working in an outdoor garden. Areas considered for support include educational, environmental, or social programming; leadership; community support; sustainability; innovation, and need. Each winning program will receive educational materials.

Grant applications are available from www.kidsgardening.com/grants.asp. The application deadline is November 1, 2006.

CROCKETT COUNTY READS CLOVER CORNER NEWS!

Crockett County 4-H agent Tonya Bain found an article in Clover Corner News (4hblogs.org/ccn/) about 4imprint. They are a company which imprints things like pens, hats, bags, etc. They make a $500 grant to charitable organizations per day, every day. Upon receiving the grant, the organization can select any product and have any design printed on the item up to $500. To apply, you must simply complete an online application form.

Tonya applied for a grant a few weeks ago. She says it took her about five minutes to complete the application. She recently heard back from them and was notified they had received a $500 grant. Crockett County ordered green backpacks imprinted with "Crockett County 4-H" and the 4-H Emblem. They were able to get 76 backpacks with their $500 grant. They plan to use the backpacks for school supply kits for underprivileged youth in August, as well as fill them with toys during their Toys for Tots drive in December.

Every local 4-H chapter is eligible to apply for this grant. Any questions, visit onebyone.4imprint.com/default.aspx.
