GOVERNOR’S OFFICE SEEKING INTERNS
Do you know bright, motivated college juniors and seniors who want to contribute to a team atmosphere and learn more about the political process? If so, please do not delay in sharing this amazing opportunity with them!
The Governor’s Office is currently seeking applications for our fall internship program. Governor’s Office interns have the opportunity to work in the heart of Tennessee politics. There are three opportunities throughout the course of the year for students to be considered for full-time internships in the Governor’s Office- fall semester (mid-August to December), spring semester (January to mid-May) and summer semester (mid-May to mid-August). Applications for our fall internship program are due June 15, 2006.
Interns have the opportunity to work in one of the fast paced departments in the Governor’s Office. This allows interns to focus their experience in a specific area of the political process. Internship opportunities are available in the following departments:
* Boards & Commissions
* Communications
* Constituent Services
* First Lady’s Office
* Governor’s Office/Deputy Governor’s Office
* Legislative
* Policy
* Scheduling |
We regret that funds are not available to provide stipends to Governor’s Office interns. Our staff is willing to assist students in receiving credit for their work in the Governor’s Office.
Past Governor’s Office interns have had backgrounds in political science, communications and public relations; however, we encourage any self-motivated individual from any academic major to apply.
For more information about the application process, please visit www.tennessee.gov/governor/Internship.do. If you have questions or need additional information, please contact me at 615-253-7754 or via email at patrick.hamilton@state.tn.us.

TENNESSEE 4-H’ERS TO ATTEND NICE CONFERENCE
Tiffany Brewer and Mary Lu Noah from Robertson County have been selected to represent Tennessee at the 2006 National Institute on Cooperative Education (NICE) Conference in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. The conference will be held on the Shippensburg University, July 30-August 2.
The conference is intended to provide a deeper understanding of cooperatives to the youth attending. Participants will gain an understanding of how cooperatives differ from other business forms and will hear cooperative success stories in both the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors. In a team setting, attendees will serve as managers of a simulated cooperative store, competing with other stores in their market area for sales and profit. Teams will also analyze case studies, develop their own student-run cooperative, and participate in team-building and leadership development activities. The closing session will recognize the teams that have been the top performers in various conference activities.
Tiffany and Mary Lu were selected for this honor as result of being first runner ups in Level II citizenship and leadership competition at State 4-H Congress earlier this spring. Their trip is being sponsored by the Tennessee Council of Cooperatives.
