4-H’ERS GET AN OPPORTUNITY TO “COLOR YOUR COMMUNITY!”
The Tennessee 4-H All Stars remind all 4-H members to “COLOR YOUR COMMUNITY” by collecting crayons and coloring books for this year’s service learning project at the 83rd Tennessee Roundup and State All Star Conference.
The state-wide service project chosen by the Tennessee 4-H All Stars is the “2006 Service Challenge.” This project encourages 4-H members to do “2006 of something” - whether it is having 2006 hours of service learning in their county or collecting 2006 canned good, etc. The All Stars are hopeful that you will encourage all 4-H members to get involved in this project and to learn about one of the many opportunities to help their community.
All donations will be given to the Weakley County Board of Education to distribute to local pre-K, kindergarten, elementary and middle schools. Please connect to 4h.tennessee.edu/roundup/serviceproj/ for a downloadable flyer to promote in your community.

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL 4-H ELECTRIC CAMP
The 15th annual Tennessee 4-H Electric Camp was held on the campus of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, June 27-30, with 222 campers in attendance. Delegates explored the world of energy, electricity and the basic sciences through fun-filled, hands-on learning experiences.
The Western Region boasted the largest delegation with 104 members attending. The Central Region had 70 delegates; and the Eastern Region had 48. Hickman County had the largest county delegation with 27 members. In addition to the delegates, 12 senior 4-H members attended as camp assistants.
The event is sponsored jointly by UT Extension, the Tennessee Electric Cooperative, the Tennessee Valley Authority, and several local municipal power suppliers.

CENTER FOR SUMMER LEARNING ANNOUNCES NATIONAL SUMMER LEARNING DAY
The Center for Summer Learning encourages you to mark your calendar and plan to host or attend an event recognizing National Summer Learning Day on Thursday, July 13, 2006. Summer Learning Day is a time for communities to celebrate the importance of high-quality summer learning opportunities in the lives of young people and their families. Summer
Programs are beneficial because they send young people back to school and ready to learn, support working families and keep children safe and healthy.
Partnered with the Staples Foundation for Learning, the Verizon Foundation and other partners, a wide array of public agencies, non-profit organizations, schools, universities, museums, libraries and summer camps across the country will celebrate this year's third annual Summer Learning Day.
Please visit the Center's Web site, www.summerlearning.org, to learn more about Summer Learning Day, register an event and download materials to plan for and engage the media and elected officials in a local event.

ENROLLMENT FORMS HAVE BEEN UPDATED!
4-H enrollment forms have been updated for the 2006-07 school year. A new section has been added for the 4-H’er to disclose if their parent is a member of the National Guard, Reserve or other branch of the military. This information is optional and will be used to identify those youth who qualify for the Operation: Military Kids program. If you have any 4-H’ers to disclose this information, please email their names to Amy Willis at awillis2@utk.edu so they can be included in any statewide programming efforts. The clothing and textiles project has also been added to the 5-12th grade enrollment form to reflect the addition of this project.
