INSECT INSTITUTE EXHIBIT

The Insect Institute has created an educational "eyes-on" program to be presented at the Tennessee State Fair and the Mid-South Fair. The program will be under the guidelines of a professional staff in a beautiful laboratory setting with over 15 species on exhibit along with documented DVD footage giving detailed information on the Africanized bees.

The program is designed to help parents and children enhance their knowledge and cautions on the dangers of stinging, biting, flying and crawling insects than can be physically harmful or even cause death and is presented and projected in a fun and challenging environment. Also available, to communities and farmers is information about migrating insects that have not entered the U.S.

Please take time to visit and encourage 4-H’ers to visit this one of a kind exhibit at the Tennessee State Fair and the Mid-South Fair.

VOL NETWORK: INCREASING TENNESSEE 4-H VISIBILITY

Thanks to the Tennessee 4-H Foundation, Inc., Tennessee 4-H and the Foundation have entered into a partnership with Host Communications - the Vol Network to increase visibility for the Tennessee 4-H youth development program. Beginning last Monday, August 21, 15 radio air 30-second radio spots will be featured on “Vol Call.” Football schedule cards featuring the name and emblem and Web site address have been distributed mainly in the urban areas - at banks, doctors’ offices and locations not typically catering to a 4-H audience. There will be a half-page ad in both UT football and basketball programs this fall and winter. In addition, Tennessee 4-H will receive a permanent ad button on utsports.com. By clicking on the permanent ad button, sports fans will be directed to the Tennessee 4-H Web site. The site receives more than 3.5 million visitors each year. The partnership is seen by the Foundation as a great way to give Tennessee 4-H and the Tennessee 4-H Foundation, Inc. more visibility and to increase opportunities for youth and adults participate in 4-H.
