2007 KSJCE ONLINE ENTRY PROGRAM IS NOW AVAILABLE
What's new this year? No more Social Security numbers! To further improve security and reduce the risk of identity theft, we no longer use Social Security numbers as a means of exhibitor identification. Instead, we are using the Exhibitor Identification Number (EIN) format that was successfully piloted last year. The EIN is similar in format to a social security number, but will provide more usable information about the exhibitor and is comprised of your county, region and personally assigned exhibitor number.
What do you need to enter? Before entering exhibitor or animal information, verify that data on the entry form is complete and animals meet eligibility guidelines. Do not attempt to enter incomplete entries! All information fields are required and the entry program will not accept partial entries. Extension agents will be responsible for entering all registered and commercial heifer show entries for the 2007 KSJCE from your county. Market steer entries received by today (March 30) have been entered into the online entry program in Knoxville and are available for viewing. Any KSJCE market steer entries received after today will also be entered into the system as they arrive. Information on entering 2007 Tennessee Junior Livestock Exposition Beef and Sheep Expo entries will be forwarded in April.
What about paper entry forms? Keep in mind that it is still required for you to submit all KSJCE “hard copy” entries, entry fees and appropriate registration forms and/or lease agreements to Dr. James B. Neel in the state Extension animal science office by March 30 for market steers and by April 9 for registered and commercial heifer entries. In addition, all entries, with the exception of market steers are required to be entered into the online system by 5:00 p.m. (EDT) on Monday, April 9.
How do I access the online entry program? You may access the online entry program from the Department of Animal Science home page at http://animalscience.ag.utk.edu/ by clicking on the “4-H Livestock Show Entry Procedure” link under the 4-H Program Area page or News and Events. Be sure to open this site directly in an Internet Explorer window and not through Lotus Notes.

HENRY COUNTY LEADS STATE IN HONOR CLUB INITIATES
Henry County is currently the top county in the state in terms of number of Honor Club initiates for 2007. As of March 30, they had 25 new Honor Club members approved for membership. Knox County was second with 14 initiates; Overton was third with 12; and Johnson was fourth with 11. Eastern is the top region with 51 initiates.
We are convinced there is a positive correlation between the number of Honor Club members a county can qualify and the quality of the 4-H program in the county. Honor Club membership is based on participation. Unless many participation opportunities are made available, not many 4-H’ers will be able to qualify for Honor Club recognition. Go to 4h.tennessee.edu/honorclub/howmany.htm for a complete listing of Honor Club initiates by region and county for January, February and March of this year.
