Do you work with Extension professionals with interest or expertise in positive youth development as it relates to adolescent health or well-being? Are you interested in connecting with other potential collaborators from both within and outside of the Extension system? If so, you are encouraged to be a part of a new searchable database of Extension professionals which will be marketed as a tool for finding support and collaborators within our own state or community. To submit information simply go to http://bpy.arizona.edu/dbform/ and complete the entry form. If you have any questions please direct them to Karen Hoffman Tepper at the University of Arizona. LEADER FORUM BROCHURE POSTED ON WEB SITE
The promotional brochure (including registration information) for the State 4-H Volunteer Leader Forum is now on our Web site at 4h.tennessee.edu/ideas07/attach/ldrforumbro.pdf. Please download it, make copies and send it to volunteers and friends that may be considering becoming a 4-H volunteer. The forum will provide an assortment of workshops for new and experienced volunteers involved in youth development. Most sessions will have materials for participants to take home. The environment, although professional, is informal and relaxed. Workshop sessions will be facilitated by fellow volunteers, agents and specialists. Our goal is to create a nurturing and positive learning environment. Sound familiar? 4-H is not just for kids! The adults committed to youth involved in 4-H are provided with fun and effective learning opportunities also. It’s the 4-H way!
If you have a 4-H program or a specific event that you would like to share with others and will not be presenting a workshop, please bring an exhibit board and handouts to share. Let me know if you will be bringing an exhibit to make sure we have enough space for the exhibit. This portion of the forum is a great way to share ideas so don’t be shy and share some of those great things that are happening in your county.
For those of you not familiar with the forum, the Tennessee 4-H Alumni, Inc. have a reunion meeting on Friday night. A silent auction will be held and the monies collected will benefit 4-H programs and activities. If you have a nice item you could contribute to the effort, please bring it. You can contact Mark Gateley in the state 4-H office at 865-974-7436 for more information.
When possible, we try to provide participants with resources (curriculum, project materials, videos, etc.) that will enhance learning experiences for youth involved in 4-H. Tennessee 4-H has received sponsorship from Monsanto and National 4-H Council for this year. We are very appreciative of this grant because it will enable us to provide some resources for all participants that otherwise we would not have.
The forum provides an opportunity to learn, network, share ideas, obtain resources and project materials, make new friends and reconnect with old friends. Recruit some friends and register to attend the State 4-H Volunteer Leader Forum today!
