4-H Sheep Conference is three weeks away... May 31. Have you registered? This year’s conference will again be held in Cookeville at the Hyder-Burks Arena on the Tennessee Tech campus.
Cost for the conference is $10 per person payable when you arrive. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.CDT, and the program should be completed by 5:30 p.m. Program details can be found on the 4-H Web site at 4h.tennessee.edu/sheepconf/.

If you want to nominate teen leaders for a leadership role at the conference, the deadline is May 15. Nominations need to be make by a county 4-H agent or Tennessee Sheep Producer Association member. Send nominations to Ben Powell or Dwight Loveday.
4-H agents and/or volunteers are also needed to work with Dwight Loveday to develop skillathon stations (2-4 learning activities per topic) and serve as resource person for that station. Contact Dwight Loveday if you are interested.
Location: Hyder-Burks Arena is located in Cookeville at 2390 Gainesboro Grade. Take Exit 286 from I-40 onto Willow (Hwy 135 N). Go 3.3 miles and turn left on 12th Street (Hwy 290 W). OPPORTUNITY TO RECOGNIZE VOLUNTEERS AND 4-H FAMILIES
Have you every wondered how 4-H could offer learning experiences, activities and events if we depended on salaried staff only? Volunteers have a significant role in 4-H at all levels... an essential element to the size and scope of programming efforts. We have two opportunities to convey our appreciation and recognize volunteers for their efforts and impact on youth. The awards will be presented at Roundup in July. Please read the following and determine if you have deserving nominees in your county.
State Adult Leader Recognition
This program gives recognition to an outstanding volunteer leader who has served five or more years. Each county may submit one nominee to the region. Each region will select two nominees for state competition. County winners will receive a Charline Hamilton Powell Leader Recognition certificate and the state winner an engraved plaque. Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kant of Blount County sponsors this recognition. The state winner will receive a trip to National 4-H Congress in Atlanta. The application form may be found at 4h.tennessee.edu/forms/worddocs/f842.doc.
W.M. & Ruth Hale Master 4-H Family Recognition
The Hale Master 4-H Families receive a framed certificate at the county level, engraved plaques at the regional level and a framed Tennessee Master 4-H Family medallion at the state level. The state awards are presented at State 4-H Roundup. Each county may recognize one family annually, plus one additional family for every 100 volunteer leaders. The Hale Master Family nomination form is available at 4h.tennessee.edu/forms/worddocs/f840.doc. |
Nomination forms should be sent to your regional office. Check with your regional office for regional deadlines. Both nomination forms are due in the state office by Monday June 2, 2008.
