AG TAG PROMOTIONAL DISPLAYS AVAILABLE

The Tennessee Department of Agriculture in cooperation with the Tennessee 4-H Foundation has produced portable displays which highlight 4-H and the benefits received from the Ag Tag specialty license plate sales. The displays were produced as part of a marketing campaign for which 4-H, FFA and Ag-In-The-Classroom are providing leadership. Each organization currently receives a minimum of $55,000 per year from the fund, however this is subject to having enough Ag Tag license plate sales to generate that much money for distribution. 4-H's part of the annual award provides training for volunteers, enhances State Congress and Roundup and funds the awards for several ag-related projects.

If you wish to help promote Ag Tag sales at your next event, the 4-H Foundation will loan you one of the displays. The displays go up in about a minute or less and look very professional. You can see one at 4hfoundation.tennessee.edu/AgTagDisplay.html. The size of the opened display is approximately 7 feet tall by 3 feet wide.

Please give at least two weeks notice so that arrangements can be made to get the display to you prior to your event. Email mgateley@utk.edu to make arrangements to borrow one of the displays.

TENNESSEE 4-H PERFORMING ARTS TROUPE SEEKING NEW TALENT

Auditions for the 2009-10 Tennessee 4-H Performing Arts Troupe are coming up this spring. 4-H members in grades 8-11 are encouraged to apply. The categories for applicants are vocal and dance. There are also technical positions (i.e. sound and lighting) available.

There are two ways to apply for the troupe:

1. Schedule a live audition. All live auditions will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009, from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon at the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville. To schedule a live audition, applications must be received by March 13, 2009.
2. Submit a video or DVD. The video or DVD must be postmarked by April 17, 2009, and sent to: Justin Crowe, Extension Specialist, 2621 Morgan Circle, Room 205, Knoxville, TN 37996-4510.

Each vocalist must have at least one selection with musical accompaniment. A dancer or vocalist may also include a group performance where the individual is clearly identified. It is desirable for all vocal applicants to include at least one selection that includes movement and dance.

4-H members who are considering participating in the troupe should be available for the summer workshop, June 19-21, 2009, in the Middle Tennessee area, as well as all additional performance dates. A listing of these dates along with other information including applications, deadlines and a troupe overview video are available on the Tennessee 4-H Performing Arts Troupe Web site at 4hperformers.tennessee.edu/.
