FREE DAIRY DVD AVAILABLE FROM SUDIA
“Milk on the Mooove: From Farm to You” is an educational video that has been specially designed for youth from kindergarten to 5th grade. With most youth today being four generations removed from a farm, it is essential to educate them about the dairy foods they consume.
Through this educational video, educators are able to take youth on a tour of daily dairy processes from the farm to their school lunchrooms. It shows how dairy farm families care for their animals, take advantage of modern technology and play an important role in providing young people with safe and wholesome foods.
Contact The Southeast United Dairy Industry Association, Inc. (SUDIA) to receive your FREE copy of this DVD. Digital versions are also available at www.southeastdairy.org and YouTube.com. Call Camilla Ellis at 1-800-928-6455 or email her at cellis@sedairy.org to order a copy.

JUNIOR HIGH RECOGNITION OPPORTUNITY
Many counties do not take advantage of the Junior High Continuing Service Award provided by the Tennessee 4-H Alumni, Inc. The award is to recognize junior high 4-H members who have:
| 1) |
made significant contributions in the area if 4-H promotion; |
| 2) |
shown leadership ability on an individual basis and with an organized group; |
| 3) |
participated in activities of value to their family and community; |
| 4) |
and shown consistent personal growth through participation in 4-H activities. |
Each county may recommend two members. In addition to these two members, you may recommend one member for each 100, or major fraction thereof, junior high 4-H members in your county. This number is based on the junior high enrollment on July 1 of the current calendar year. You should recommend your recipients to us on the Tennessee Junior High 4-H Continuing Service Award Nomination Form available from the state 4-H office or the 4-H forms page at 4h.tennessee.eud/forms&materials/index.htm.
Each recipient will receive a Tennessee Junior High Continuing Service Award certificate. There is no cost to the county. A member can receive the award only one time.

KIDS’ SCIENCE CHALLENGE
Kids’ Science Challenge is a free nationwide competition for 3rd to 6th graders funded by the National Science Foundation. 4-H kids can have fun learning the principals of science and engineering while seeing their ideas come alive. Along with an exciting competition, KSC offers a suite of online projects, activities and curricula designed to national science education standards; as well as fun and educational videos, games, interactive learning opportunities and an extraordinary group of kid-friendly scientists and engineers.
Students learn about the work of a select group of scientists and engineers on KSC’s Web site: kidsciencechallenge.com. Kids submit their own problems and experiments to these scientists and then winning ideas are chosen on the basis of originality, do-ability and grasp of scientific principles. Competition winners visit and collaborate with the scientists to see their ideas turned into realities. Kids, parents and 4-H leaders can follow this process online. The competition runs from October 1, 2009 - February 28, 2010. The first thousand entrants receive a free Science Activity Kit. 771 kids from all over the country entered last year’s KSC competition.
