April Parker of Jefferson County is Tennessee’s state Family and Consumer Sciences Leadership winner. She is the daughter of James and Toni Parker of Jefferson City. April's was a Level I state winner and Level II state finalist in the nutrition, health and fitness project. She has worked with cancer patients in her community on a nutrition project call Banana Buddies. April has held the offices of scout-at-large and deputy chief on the Eastern Region All 4-H Star Council. She is a two-year State 4-H Council member currently serving as a senior representative. April says, "4-H has taught me leadership skills and life values that will take me far in life." She is a member of the Jefferson County Youth Chamber of Commerce and works with the Meals on Wheels program. She is president of the Tennessee Valley Fair Youth Board. April plans to attend the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a major in agricultural economics and business. Her career goals include becoming a 4-H Extension agent.

Marjorie Pess Marjorie Pess of Williamson County is a state winner in the Line and Design project. This college freshman is the daughter of Alan and Janet Pess of Franklin. Marjorie taught crafts to 60 junior campers for three days as part of her line and design project. They made potholders, God’s eyes and bead creatures. She taught 12 disabled youth how to draw using the grid method at Camp Will. Marjorie won fifth on her line and design project exhibit at State 4-H Roundup and was a Clover Style Show winner at the regional level for three years. She enjoys her county’s exchange trips with other states and has traveled to Montana and Texas. She is president of the Franklin Community 4-H Club, vice president of the 4-H Exchange Club and historian for her school’s Thespian Society. Marjorie is studying art education at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Rebekah RansomRebekah Ransom of Johnson County is attending National 4-H Congress as a state winner in the Line and Design project. This home-schooled senior is the daughter of Glenn and Katherine Ransom of Butler. Rebekah sews, alters and creates clothing for her family. She has taught classes at her county’s clothing camp. She placed first with all her entries in clothing, needlepoint, cross-stitch and arts and crafts at the Johnson County and Appalachian fairs. While serving as county 4-H Honor Club president, Rebekah tripled meeting attendance by calling members before all activities. She teaches Sunday School at her church and helped tile artwork in front of the community center. Rebekah wants to own her own home business in the future.


Grant Scoble

Grant Scoble from Davidson County is representing Tennessee as a state winner in the Nutrition, Health and Fitness project. Grant is a senior at Centennial High School and the son of John and Jennifer Scoble of Franklin. Grant’s activities include the Food and Nutrition FAN Club, Life Rocks training program, Myself.camp and Power U. He was a Level I state winner in nutrition, health and fitness and served as county June Dairy Month chairman. Grant has been a member of the State 4-H Council for two years and was a delegate to the National Youth Leadership Conference. He has participated as a youth leader on a mission trip, volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and served as captain of the soccer team. Grant is planning a career as a physical therapist.


Brent Sharp Brent Sharp of Washington County is attending National 4-H Congress based on his accomplishments in the Personal Development project. This college freshman is the son of Kevin and Connie Sharp of Limestone. Brent has taught in elementary school 4-H clubs and served as a teen leader at junior 4-H camp. This Vol State recipient has also participated in the leadership and citizenship projects and has won many public speaking and demonstration contests. He is an active member of the Washington County 4-H Honor Club Plus. Brent is a student at East Tennessee State University majoring in mathematics education.

Cara Stitt Cara Stitt of Williamson County is a state winner in the Companion Animal project. She is a senior at Family Christian Academy and the daughter of Richard and Rene Stitt of Spring Hill. Cara trains her Miniature Schnauzer and Bichon Frise in obedience, agility and showmanship classes. She has won first place in obedience, champion in showmanship and agility and best overall exhibitor in the Tennessee 4-H Dog Classic. She received the national “I Dare You” Award for her work in leading her county's 4-H agility class. Cara volunteers with dog rescues by training them to sit, stay, lay down and heel. She is also involved in the Shooting Sports program and “Focus on Fashion.” Cara believes Roundup project competition has taught her “the value of dedication, hard work, and communication skills.” Cara has held leadership positions in her 4-H club and has been a teen leader at many 4-H camps. She plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin as a pre-medicine student in her quest to become a surgeon.
