4-H Horse Program

Horse Program The 4-H horse program is part of the animal science project. The program will allow you to develop horsemanship skills. You will also learn skills through educational activities such as horse judging, horse bowls, hippology, speech and demonstration contests. You don’t have to own a horse to be involved.

If you have already signed up for this 4-H project, come on in and get started. If you haven't signed up yet, contact your county 4-H office and become a member today.

This Web page has lots of great resources for your project. You'll find activity sheets, information about the subject, ideas for service related to your project, additional resources, information for project leaders and more!

Surf around and check out all the resources provided. If there are other things you'd like to see included, please ask your 4-H agent or volunteer leader to let the state 4-H office know.

So, get ready to have fun and learn a lot as you participate in your project. Don't forget to make a Project Plan and then report your project successes!

Service Project Ideas

Volunteer at a riding program for disabled children and adults
Volunteer to feed horses while a friend or neighbor is out of town
Volunteer to clean stalls and/or tack for a local stable
Make an exhibit about West Nile Virus and display it in a public place
