| A RESOLUTION |
to proclaim and recognize that Tennessee 4-H is a partner in Governor Phil Bredesen's and the Tennessee District Attorney General's fight against Tennessee’s methamphetamine use and manufacturing issues in the state. |
WHEREAS the state of Tennessee has one of the highest number of methamphetamine uses and production in the country; and
WHEREAS Governor Phil Bredesen and the Tennessee District Attorney General's Office formed the Meth Destroys task force to raise awareness of the use of methamphetamines in the state of Tennessee; and
WHEREAS in 2005, Tennessee 4-H joined District Attorney’s Anti-Meth Task Force and committed to educating themselves and their local clubs and communities about the dangers of methamphetamine use and production; and
WHEREAS a July 2006 report from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation sites that on-going efforts of the Meth Destroys campaign and its community partners, such as Tennessee 4-H, has resulted in a 50 percent decrease in methamphetamine laboratory seizures in the state;
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED that the 4-H Senators and Representatives of this 60th Tennessee 4-H Congress do herby proclaim and affirm their commitment to continued education and public awareness in addressing methamphetamine abuse and production in the state of Tennessee.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of Joint Resolution No. 0001 be forwarded to Governor Phil Bredesen and the state district attorneys.
