A RESOLUTION to proclaim and recognize that Tennessee 4-H Congress is supporting “A Healthy Weight Initiative for Tennessee’s Children and Youth.”

WHEREAS this initiative is supported by the University of Tennessee Extension program; and

       WHEREAS
concern has been raised about the nutritional quality of foods and beverages sold in schools outside of federally regulated meal programs; and

WHEREAS poor eating habits, along with physical inactivity, contribute to obesity and other serious health problems; and

WHEREAS serving healthy snacks to children is important to providing good nutrition, supporting lifelong healthy eating habits, and helping to prevent costly and potentially-disabling diseases,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the 4-H Senators and Representatives of this 61st Tennessee 4-H Congress do hereby proclaim and affirm their commitment to continued education and public awareness in addressing healthier life styles for children and youth in the state of Tennessee.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of Joint Resolution No. 0001 be forwarded to Governor Phil Bredesen and the state district attorneys.
