AN ACT

to amend Tennessee annotated code relative to Tennessee HOPE scholarship recipients.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE 2012 TENNESSEE 4-H CONGRESS:

Expenditures of the lottery scholarship program are outpacing the annual net proceeds. To insure scholarship monies are available for future Tennessee college students, the Hope Scholarship, which is Tennessee’s largest financial aid program, will require the following changes:

SECTION 1: To begin or continue to receive scholarship monies from Tennessee HOPE, applications must be completed and accepted by September 1 of the Fall Term and by February 1 for the Spring Term.

SECTION 2: For an applicant to receive the full scholarship of $4,000, said applicant must meet both the grade point average of 3.0 and have an ACT score of 21 or higher.

SECTION 3: If only one of the Section 2 requirements are met, said applicant will receive one-half of the full scholarship monies (which will be $2,000).

SECTION 4: All laws in conflict with this act are hereby repealed.

SECTION 5: This act shall become effective upon passage by the legislature and approval by the Governor or upon its otherwise becoming a law.
