Jesse Francis Scholarship Winner for 2008

Congratulations to Emily Osterhaus, Bedford County 4-H Family and Consumer Sciences UT Extension Agent.

Emily has enrolled at UT Martin and is seeking her Masters Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. She is also active in TAE4-HW, where she has been the Policy and Resolution Chair and Secretary. Leadership roles in Extension include serving on several state and regional committees like camping and clothing. Emily has been the co-chair for the regional Fun with Fashions for 6 or 7 years. She has conducted CPR and First Aid classes for fellow agents for more than 5 years. She was also the co-chair for the TAE4-HW State Meeting when the Central Region hosted at Henry Horton State Park.

Emily's honors and awards include: The George S. Foster award from TAE4-HW, the Ben T. Powel Distinguished Service Award from TAE4-HW and the Early Career Award from ESP. This year she also received the Darter Award. She has received several communication awards from TAE4-HW in the area of diversity and was a Southern Region Winner one year.

Emily received her BS Degree from MTSU in December of 1996. Her major was Family and Consumer Sciences with a minor in Education. She is currently taking 6 hours from UT Martin and plan to take 6 more in 2009 towards her Masters.

Note: The Omega Chapter scholarship is named in honor of Jesse Francis, retired supervisor of UT's former District V Extension Office. Mr. Francis is a past president of the national ESP organization.
