Gene serves as the Area Plant and Pest Management Specialist at the University of Tennessee in Dyer, Gibson, Lake, Lauderdale, Obion and Weakley counties.  Producers and other agricultural professionals are the primary clientele of his extension programs. The majority of his time is spent in working in the area of plant and pest management in cotton, soybeans, wheat, corn, grain sorghum, vegetable crops and ornamental horticulture.  Activities include conducting county plant and pest management (IPM) programs in his assigned work area and working with producers to solve insect, weed, disease and fertility problems.  Other activities include writing newspaper and other appropriate articles, working with IPM educational teams in conducting plant and pest management work, and presenting educational programs.
